The Client

KDTurner Designs is an award-winning landscape architecture firm known for its thoughtful integration of native plantings, sustainable practices, and a deep respect for the natural environment. Rooted in eco-conscious design, the firm creates outdoor spaces that are both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally responsible.

The Project

I was brought in to develop the majority of the website copy, with a focus on telling the story behind each featured project. To do this, I selected imagery that reflected the spirit of the space, interviewed the architect to understand each client’s vision, and crafted content that highlighted how Kim Turner translated those visions into landscapes that feel deeply personal and authentic. The result was fully optimized content that captured both the beauty of the work and the values behind it.

Runway for Recovery is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families through every stage of a breast cancer journey—offering care, connection, and community when it’s needed most.

The Project

Runway for Recovery’s existing WordPress site was no longer meeting their needs. The design felt outdated, plugins were broken, and inconsistencies across the site made navigation difficult. The content required a refresh to reflect current programming, and the site needed to be fully optimized for search engines. I also wanted to make the site feel more personal by focusing on the families at the heart of the mission and adding a video component to help tell their stories. The goal was to create a modern, seamless experience that reflected both the heart and impact of the organization.

Boynton Yards is a new mixed-use development in Somerville, MA, featuring life sciences labs, residences, business space, and event venues. The multi-building project brings new energy to a formerly industrial part of the city.

The Project

I was hired to write a monthly, long-form journalistic newsletter to keep the community informed about the progress of Boynton Yards. Each issue highlighted local events, featured small businesses, and showcased the project’s ongoing commitment to community outreach. I planned the content calendar, conducted interviews, wrote restaurant and event reviews, and crafted the full newsletter. The content also served as the foundation for that month’s social media, with key excerpts adapted for posts and campaigns.

JRM Hauling & Recycling was a regional waste management company serving New England, offering services such as hauling, dumpster rentals, shredding, and recycling. They also owned GreenWorks Recycling, which was acquired by Republic Services in 2023.

The Project

The agency brought me on to develop all creative content for a full website build for JRM Hauling & Recycling and its sister company, GreenWorks Recycling. I also managed two monthly blogs—one focused on municipal waste solutions and home waste management, and the other on eco-friendly practices, including recycling, reducing packaging waste, and sustainable fashion. The brand refresh played a key role in the company’s successful sale to Republic Services in 2023.

The Newburyport Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that raises funds and fosters community support to enhance education in the Newburyport Public Schools. To date, they’ve raised over $4 million to fund programs, technology, and resources that go beyond what public funding covers.

The Project

As Marketing Chair for the Newburyport Education Foundation, I create social media campaigns for their annual events. For their largest fundraiser, I develop content that promotes the event, highlights the organization's impact, features local students, and thanks sponsors—all to build buzz and increase support each year.

The Project

I was brought on by branding and social media agency Busy Creative to help launch Sara Thurston Designs. I developed all of the brand’s creative copy, including website content, blog posts, and social media messaging. I defined the brand voice, wrote the vision, mission, and brand pillars, and created distinctive names and descriptions for each product. My work helped establish a strong, cohesive brand identity from day one.

The Client

Sara Thurston Designs is a Newburyport-based accessory brand specializing in handmade belts in a range of styles and colors. Each piece is carefully crafted, combining classic design with a modern edge.

As a marketer, I wanted to learn generative AI to stay ahead of industry shifts and enhance my ability to create smarter, faster, and more personalized content at scale. Mastering these tools unlocks a wide range of roles—from AI-driven content creation and automation to strategic consulting and product marketing for emerging technologies.

This blog was written after an intensive weekend immersion on generative AI during my master’s program, where I learned directly from industry leaders. I also used AI tools throughout the process for research, annotations, and sourcing, showcasing both the power and practicality of this evolving technology.

The Inclusion Matrix
Capstone Project | M.S. in Communications Management, Newhouse School at Syracuse University

The Inclusion Matrix is an innovative digital platform I developed to help universities navigate the post-affirmative action era in admissions and marketing. In response to the 2023 Supreme Court decision banning race-conscious admissions, this project offers a forward-thinking solution rooted in technology, equity, and strategic communication.

Designed to support institutions committed to fostering diversity, the platform goes beyond compliance. It equips universities with tools to reimagine outreach, evaluate candidates more holistically, and engage underrepresented students through inclusive, data-informed marketing practices.

The Inclusion Matrix reflects my passion for utilizing communication strategies to drive systemic change and for creating a more just and accessible future in higher education.
